A natural byproduct of the crank case ventilation system is oil vapor making its way back into the intake. These gases are recirculated back into the intake for emissions compliance. On factory cars where performance is only one piece of the puzzle this is no problem. However when the best performance is the goal these vapors have to go! By allowing oil vapors to enter the combustion chamber you increase your chances for detonation significantly. Oil vapors will also gum up the intake valves over time.
